A commited team
The Gingerbread
Guild is growing thanks to the combined
energies of a Board of Directors and the members
of five committees formed from business people,
teachers, writers and artists. These dedicated
volunteers share with the guild their talents
and expertise.
· The Board of Directors administers,
and has ultimate responsibility for, the educational
and financial activities of the Guild.
· The Committee of Wisdom is
formed of the Godfathers/Godmothers of the
Guild. The participants are public figures
who support the Guild with their moral endorsement.
They share their personal network of friends
and acquaintances and are precious allies
within the visible face of the community.
In short they are the Guild's ambassadors.
· The Advisory committee is
responsible for providing the board with recommendations
for long-term strategy which are reviewed
and updated on a regular basis. This broad
mandate extends to include all Guild activities
both educational and financial. The Advisory
committee works in collaboration with
the educational and fund raising committees
as and when necessary.
· The Education committee supervises
the content of the Guild's workshops, the
engagement and formation of workshop leaders,
the development and distribution of didactic
materials, which accompany the books donated
to our young readers. The committee subsection
"Educators without Borders"
is responsible for activities undertaken beyond
the borders of Canada which are directed at
countries where pedagogic aid is required
for children having little or no schooling.
· The Editorial committee is
responsible for the planning, composition
and publication of The Gingerbread Slice and
The Small Slice. The committee enlists the
aid of the children themselves in the preparation
of each issue. The Gingerbread Slice, The
Small Slice and www.gingerbreadguild.org
are the principle tools used to convince people
with heart of the necessity of investing in
education without borders.
· The Fundraising committee
is responsible for the maintenance of sufficient
income flow emanating from the guild's workshops,
products and special events in order that
the established goals of the Guild be reached.
