Education and Philanthropy

The Guild initiates children to the values of the world's cultural heritage and guides them in
the exploration of these treasures using the twin vehicles of healthy nutrition and quality literature.

The Guild favours interactive learning methods dedicated to the acquisition of literacy by children from
both schooled and unschooled environments. These proactive methods stimulate the creative imagination
of apprentice readers whatever their level of reading maturity.

The Guild sensitises children from both here and overseas
to the realities lived by other less fortunate children elsewhere in the world.

Reflection

The Gingerbread Guild urges citizens with a heart to forge with them
a chain of friendship linking all the children of the global village.

Education is the only peaceful solution capable of building a worldwide community
living in peace and in harmony with the environment and with mutual respect for the freedom of fellow citizens.

Only children who are imbued with the pluralist values of democracy will know how to build this better world. One that is coherent and ethical and one that stresses the importance of tolerance, of asking questions and of generosity to others. Together they will be able to overcome hatred and violence in all its forms. They will be able to create a world of peace.

The Guild reiterates its commitment towards children everywhere, fully conscious of the fact that the realization of this commitment will not be an easy task in the face of widespread ignorance and apathy. The Guild will support the decision makers of tomorrow by offering them the means to acquire information that is free from social and religious prejudice.
