What is Canada doing?
A promise given to a child is a promise to be kept !

2000
2015

During the World Forum on Education, Dakar, Senegal 2000, 180 countries committed themselves to providing universal free access to quality education at primary level by 2015.

Canada, a member of the G8 group of nations is also committed to occupying a preponderant role in this monumental challenge.

The Gingerbread Guild reminds the Government of Canada of its declared obligation towards the World's children and demands that all actions taken to date be clearly explained to the population of Canada.

Please help The Guild to ensure that
the promise will be kept by signing our petition!

Help us to save the children!

46% of the Canadian population is functionally illiterate
10% to 30% are drop outs
1 child in 4 in Québec is menaced by illiteracy
250 million, of the World’s children, of whom 2/3 are girls, have little or no access to schooling
872 million of the World’s adults can neither read nor write *

Quality education permits each child to develop according to his own potential.

Quality Education is the only pacific means of building a worldwide community able to live in harmony with the environment and in peace with all free citizens of the world.

Only children who have been initiated to the pluralist values of democracy will be able to imagine this world of peace, a coherent ethical society that promotes a critical spirit underpinned by tolerance and solidarity.

The Gingerbread Guild reiterates its commitment towards children everywhere and supports the decision-makers of tomorrow by offering them the means to acquire information that is free from all social and religious prejudice.
